Newest Arrivals!!!!!!!!!

Born last Tuesday the 16th, I found them ice cold in the nestbox that evening just in time. Thank you to all those who post in the groups that gave me the idea to grab a hot water bottle when I saw one twitch a little-a very little. I spent the next 30 mins flipping the 4 little bodies around like pancakes to warm all of them and make sure they didn't "cook" and was able to bring 3 back. At just a week old they are growing in leaps and bounds, my most rewarding litter so far!
I have updated my website some for those who might want to take a peek: http://ljangoras.tripod.com/
I'm so looking forward to the next show in Rochester, NY on 1/4. I hope we have good weather and many familiar, friendly faces are able to attend.
Happy Holidays to all!

Website Delays

Sorry for the delay in updating my website. For some reason, I haven't been able get on an edit it. I've been in contact with the server and hope to resolve the issue soon.

I can let you know that the black doe and REW doe on my sales page have been placed.

I still have available the black jr buck and the tort sr doe that are both listed. If you're interested, please contact me at ljangoras@aol.com and we can talk details. I may be willing to do some negotiating/trading if the right opportunity comes along.

For me personally I was terribly, awefully sick last week and have tons of catch up to do with the bunnies as well as around the house-let alone START holiday preparations. Hopefully I'll have a litter by the end of the week..........
I'm looking forward to The Rochester show in January too.........

Happy Holidays!!!

Busy weekend here

Finally! My first 100% English Angora project done! I'm thrilled to see my results. I started too too long ago clipping a couple of my bunnies, then spinning thier wool. All self taught, I then started to knitt a scarf out of it. I got what could have been a 3rd of the way through and decided it felt so heavenly that there was no way I'd be happy with it on the outside of my coat, I had to be able to feel it. So I ripped it apart and started my first ever pair of mittens. Having no clue what I was doing, I fumbed my way trying to figure how I could make them work. Then I realized I needed more yarn, so I went back to spinning-huge lesson what a diference in the end product. I was still determined to finish and here they are. I learned lots and can pick out every detail of my work both accomplished and fumbled through. Even though they're huge on my hands I just love them and look forward to my
next project. Maybe something a little simpler though.........My black doe spun up and into a patterned scarf..........hmmmm

And introducing the newest member of our home..........Nelson. He's a cockapoo, which I never thought I'd like. Our Golden Retriver, Klem, is showing huge signs of his 12 yrs and we've been talking about our choices if/when to get another dog, what kind and so on.......... Well, this guy almost litterally fell into our laps and hearts. He's 4 1/2 mos and in his first 24 hrs no accidents in the house. Yeah!

Old Timers Show-Syracuse, NY

On 11/08/08, we packed up and head back to Syracuse for the Old Timers Show. I'm so glad we did! It was held in the Toyota building at the NYS Fairgrounds which is used for cattle during the Fair, but it was so clean you'd never know it. What an awesome set up! The building is huge!!!! We only used maybe half the building and since it was raining that morning folks were allowed to drive right into the building to unload even. To top it off, Liberty Junction Annette-pictured above-earned BOB making her 4th leg under Judge Mike D'Amico!! Liberty Junction Mystic and Kellar had their show debut as 4 mo old Jrs and recieved some very nice comments as well and I can't wait to see how they develope.

Unfortunately it looks as though this is our last show in the area until January 2009. If anyone knows of any within 2-3 hrs of Dansville, NY - please, please, please e-mail me the information!!! I'd love to be there!

Please check out my web site http://ljangoras.tripod.com/index.html as I should be doing some updates within the next day or so with some specials on available bunnies.

Visit my site-tell me what you think.........

I've been busy spinning/knitting up my first prjoct of 100% angora from my own bunnies. I'll post pictures as soon as I'm done which I'm hoping to be in a week or so.

NY Convention-Grand Finals

So this past weekend was my first NY Convention and I had a blast! Thank you to all those who put in so much hard work-it was appreciated.

So now for how I did................

AWESOME!!!!!!

Show A-Saturday morning
Judge Helen Brose
BOS- my Liberty Junction Annette-YEAH!!!!
BOB- was Brenda Hunneshagen's Sr. REW buck ( I can't beleive I forgot his name already!)

Show B- Saturday afternoon
Judge Cheryl Eng-Lynk
BOS- my Liberty Junction Annette- YEAH!!!!
BOB- again Brenda's buck

Show C- Sunday morning
Judge Dave Cardinal
Ok, I hate to admit I only heard that Brenda again took BOB though I'm not sure with which rabbit. The morning was a flurry and since neither Annette nor Phoebe took group I ran to help my friend Charlotte Schweikart with her French Angoras and Jersey Woolies which had her running. And I tried to help out at the angora raffle table as I could so others could tend to their bunnies too. I just wish I could have done more.

BIS for all the shows was dominated by a beautiful Netherland Dwarf.
Jack Bailey did take Reserve with his Giant doe for one of the Saturday shows.

Angoras Specialty-Sunday Afternoon
Judge Bill Patrick
BOS- Brenda
BOB- ANNETTE!!!!!!!! wooohooo!!!!!!
Annette also took Best English Angora wool

BIS was Charlotte's French Angora Nixie
Best reserve was Jack Bailey's Giant doe
That same order was repeated for wool

Congratulations to all.................

I was thrilled to bring home my girl as a Grand Champion as she was also registered this weekend. I wish I had come home with oodles of pictures but since my daughter had homecoming weekend I left the camera at home so I could try to feel like I was in two places at once............

Cobleskill, NY Show

First I want to share my first fall show news.....

YEAH!!!!!! Liberty Junction Phoebe won BOB!!!
This was today in Cobleskill in the open show under Judge Bob Shaftoe. And I was tempted to put her on the sales list......I've been told that sometimes you get great results with a little threatning.......lol. She's proven to be a late, but great developer.

The bad news is that there weren't enough exhibitors to get a leg. I'm thrilled anyways since I was up against Mr. Collin Burns himself.

Now I'm really looking forward to going to Hamburg next weekend and Grand Finals next month.

In my "Litter News", I still have 2 Jr bucks left, a REW and a black. I've decided to keep for sure the black doe and have pulled a REW buck off the sales list to see how much better he may develop. This has really impressed me and I may have to do a repaet in the spring.

And above is an updated picture of my litter out of Cher. Unfortunately I'm down to 5, but on the positive note they are doing really well and are growing like little weeds. Their eyes are opening. I just love watching them develop. I've grown towait to check sexes until the nest box is out, but I was tempted to take a guess and hopefully I'm right that they are all does, but the one black buck. I'll let you all know for sure in a couple weeks. I've been so bad at the guessing game.............

As always, feel free to e-mail if interested......... LJAngoras@aol.com

My latest going ons........

Yea......Cher had her first litter of babies on 8/25! NINE! and all are doing wonderfully! I never dreamed she'd have so many! I love watching them grow so fast the first couple weeks. I'll keep posting!
I finally got my website up and running. I think it looks great! http://ljangoras.tripod.com/index.html
Let me know what you think.
I've decided, especially now with Cher's huge litter, that I need to make some space, so I've posted some bucks with pictures on my Sale page. Obviously, I can't evaluate the babies just yet, but if your interested in something particular- let me know. I'll be starting a waiting list for them and will make my final decision on keepers at 8-12 wks.
I'll be attending the Cobleskill and Hamburg, NY shows in September and will able to deliver there or other arrangements can be made- including shipping.

Overdue update...Thanks for the reminder Linda!

OK, so I was busy with the usual, we all get caught up in it.....life! On Saturday 7/12, Eclipse, my black doe kindled 5 kits. 4 are thriving-3 bucks, 1 doe(black). Their sire is from my first litter, a REW buck, Jasper. Unfortunately Cher did not have babies and has been rebred, due this Sunday 8/17. Wish me luck with these ones.......

Because if my crazy picture loving friend, I snapped a few this evening and had to post them for her!

Top black one is a doe, bottom black one is a buck, and the two REW's are bucks.

New news..........

Well..............day 28. I bred two does that are due on Saturday. So after a long hot, humid night cleaning cages and scrubbing things up, the nestboxes went in. Wish me luck and I'll keep updating............

Saturday, July 12, 2008

ooopppps.....clarification on the below post

Ok, so when I was writing the post, the pictures were offset and my descriptions were clear. However now that is posted and they're all in columns.............well, I guess the basic idea is still implied. E-mail me if you'd really like to know who's who for sure...............
Lori

Updates with pics.......

With the show season slowed down, I know I haven't posted much. I've been working, playing catch up around the house, and enjoying my time with the bunnies and finally got my first 100% angora spun up. I've started a scarf with it and am loving it!

For now, I'm going to post some pics of Bunnies that I have available. And some that I'm somewhat undecided on. Feel free to e-mail me at ljangoras@aol.com or sweets6031@aol.com with any questions. I would really like to move some bunnies as I'm expecting new litters next week and would like to be sure to have room.

I'm willing to ship in some instances and/or deliver/meet with the buyer covering expenses-gas prices stink.

The 2 pics of REW's are my Sr bucks that would be the sires to the litters that I'm expecting. Both are would be first time fathers. I'm 100% sure that the one doe bred to the buck on the left took (her 3rd litter), but am uncertain about the other doe/buck. She would be having her first litter and I just haven't been able to palpate her positively. I'm still new to this so I'm hoping that her abdominal muscles are just still stronger and more "rigid" having never had babies. E-mail any words of wisdom..............

The colored buns are Junior does that are littermates available for sale. They were born 3/6/08. Left is a blue tort and right is a black tort doe. They are sweethearts, out of great ancestors that are developing incredibly. I'm stunned by the density and texture on them. I've decided to only for sure keep their sister Annette at this time-her picture to come soon.
The very top right colored bun-a blue tort-I just couldn't resist posting. He is littermate to the does I have posted here, but I'm happy/sorry to say that he is taken and will be going to his new home very soon. He's one incredible buck for only 18 wks old-the body, the density, texture and length already. He's a hard one to let go, but I just can't keep them all. I look forward to seeing this buck on the show tables in the future and hope he remembers where he came from so he doesn't kick my butt too badly.....lol. I just had to share with those who have seen me around since begining only a year ago this month with one carefully selected doe and some very wonderfully supportive people in the New York area that have helped me learn and grow. Thank you, thank you!

Here's what's available!!!!!!!!!

After much pondering, I have finally decided which babies to make available to others. These are by Countryside Promise x Silvertone Jesse James with Grand Champions and 2007 ARBA Convention winners on both sides!

It was tough, but here are 2 blue tort does made available for $200.00 each. The girls are the top 2 pictures.

I have decided to post both bucks (1 black tort and 1 blue tort) with the option of pulling one off the sale list if not spoken for by 12-16 wks. The boys are $150.00 each and are shown in the bottom 2 pictures.

At only 10 wks old, these babies are incredible.........I may have to revisit this cross!!!!!

I plan on attending the Ithaca, NY show and am tempted to enter Frankfort and/or Cortland next month. Unfortunately Gouvernour is out of the question due to family commitments-imagine my girl wanting a Sweet Sixteen party! I feel old..........

Delivery can be made at shows, may be willing to ship and/or drive some distance-purchaser to pay expenses.

I can be e-mailed at ljangoras@aol.com
Thank you..........

Canandaigua Show and Babies

YEAH!!!!! Countryside Cher took BOV at the Canadaigua Angora Specialty Show. I'm so proud. It was a wonderful show-I had a great time. I'm not going to be able to make the Gouvenour Show and haven't quite decided on which ones we may be attending next. Almost definately Ithaca, and maybe Frankfort- but that ones a ways, so we'll see.
My friend Charlotte stopped by and had a gift of hand dyed, carded angora blend wool for me. It's stunning and I can't wait to make something beautiful with it. Thank you Char-it was soooo good to see you.
Both Cher and Jasper were registered. Jasper is still available. I've decided that his coat is becoming to difficult for me to maintain and now with the weanlings I need to make room and/or manage my time better. That being said, I will only keep his coat on for 1-2 more weeks. He's got one leg and is now registered-just waiting the papers. He's half-sibling to Countryside Paris who took Youth BIS at 2007 ARBA Convention with Colin Burns. I'm asking $100 with coat or $75 once I've clipped him. He will make a wonderful herd-sire. So please contact me ASAP if you're interested and want to finish him off.
I have made my decision on my newest litter and will be posting updated pics within a couple days. Still available are 1-2 blue tort does-deposit pending on 1 and the blue tort buck. I'm reserving the black tort buck for a final decision at 12 wks-may be convinced to sell if someone is that interested.
Updated pics to come soon!!!!!!!

Babies updated pictures

I am waiting a couple more weeks to make my decision on keepers for my current 7 week old litter of 7. I'm having a hard time deciding since the consistency in all of them is making it really difficult to choose. I can tell you what I have, and if interested- e-mail me and we can talk. I'll be deciding by the end of the weekend 5/10-yes I gave myself a final deadline to decide and will stick to it. I'm definitely keeping 1 or 2, 3 tops-absolute limit........lol 2 bucks- 1 blue tort, 1 black tort5 does- 4 blue torts, 1 black tortMother is Reg. Countryside Promise, sire is GC Silvertone Jesse James

Promise was also mother to Countryside Paris- BIS ARBA Convention Youth 2007 and Jesse James was 1st Place Colored Sr. Buck 2007 ARBA Convention- so I'm REALLY excited about these babies......

I'll be attending the 5/10 show in Canadaigua, NY Show for any one wishing to meet me. I'll have the babies with me as well as a SR, REW buck also available-Jasper has one leg so far. The ringing concensus from the judges seems to be that he has a very typey body but merely lacks some density over the top-I account this to my lack of experience-He was out of my very first litter and with him being one of my favorites-such a love, I over-groomed him- a lot. He's going to make someone a really great herdsire-he's uncle, brother, son to my keeper does- I would keep him but I'm not going to play with line-breeding until I've grasped a better understanding of genetics. Mother is Reg. Countryside Promise, sire is GC Dark Star Frick.
E-mail me at ljangoras@aol.com if interested
Please keep scrolling for the doe pics...............it was proving to great a challenge to get all the pics in one post..............

Doe babies updated pictures

These girls are so much alike, I tried to put numbers in the pictures as I took them to keep them straight. Then posting them still proved to be quite a challenge. But here they are being their cute little selves...............

My Show bunnies picture update

It's been a while since I updated pictures on my show bunnies, so I took Cher and Jasper out on the porch last weekend for some natural light. It was absolutely gorgeous, but a little windy. For anyone interested, Jasper, my REW Sr. show buck pictured here is still available. I'll be attending the Fulton, NY show 4/26 and the Canandaigua, NY Show 5/10. I should have some babies available too-their pictures will be updated sometime this week.........contact me if you're interested.

Fulton, NY Show

I'm so psyched!!!!!!!!! My "Little Miss Diva" Cher, who was the reason I went, I thought did exceptionally well since these were the first shows we had competition in. I had entered them before as juniors, but there was only maybe one other entered and we were blown away. Under two different judges, Cher got second with both and some wonderful feedback from the judges and other breeders-Thank you............ And since I was going to bring Murphy and Jasper because someone wanted to potentially look at them, I entered Jasper, because I just figured I wouldn't be as embarassed putting him on the table since I felt I ruined the boys coats. Well low and behold, first show, he took BOS in the first show...............I am so looking forward to the Olean Show on the 12th now..........These litter mates are only 7 mos and hopefully have a few more months to get better and better

I have to thank all the other angora breeders. We were tucked into one little corner and had one extension cord to use with power strips added. Everyone was very welcoming to this newbie and really worked together to avoid blowing the circuits too often.....lol It was fun.........

More baby pictures............

The pictures through the bars of their cage seemed to pick up their colors truer.

Baby update

I'm still new at this, but I took a guess. I pretty sure I'm right. 3 boys and 4 girls..........All are doing very well and are starting to open their eyes right on time...............

For my disbelieving friends,,,,,,,,

These are for all my disbeleiving friends and co-workers who see pictures and insist that beyond being funny looking, that my rabbits are HUGE!!!! Presenting Max- my favorite snuggle buddy-before and after his hair cut. He's my fiber only bunny because of a DQ factor. I can't wait to spin him all up. I think this may become my first attempt at dying too. We'll see.

OH!!!! and talking about spinning, I almost forgot that I had said I'd be posting a pic of the raw alpaca fiber I've been spinning. I'm about 2/3 done with that project which is why I've been putting off working on my angora fiber. That and in trying to decide if I really should blend or not.

Cher

Alas, I've shared my woes of the beginner over grooming her bunnies coats. Well, I had to share my one success out of that litter. Cher is now a Senior doe and litter mates to the boys still available for sale earlier on my blog. My little "Diva" which I have nicknamed her, has just that for a personality which is probably why I left her and her coat alone to grow. I'm glad I did. I'm really looking forward to the show in Fulton, NY at the end of the month so I can finally get a better idea how she stacks up to some competition. When I showed her as a Junior, we'd be lucky if there was one other in her class.

Babies at 4 days

I am so amazed at the range in colors of these torts. At 4 days old, I can really tell the difference amongst them. The camera just doesn't do them justice.........The one in the top left is the softest most pastel colors and the two dark ones really don't look that close in colors in person and the one on the very bottom doesn't have that yellow tint in person that I can see...........
Just 6 more days til they open their eyes!!!!!!!!

I know, I'm a freak...............
Oh, and after I groomed a couple of the big guys yesterday, I thought I'd be cutsy with props like so many seem to pull off beautifully and got the pic above of a less than amused Murphy. I don't think I'll torture him like that ever again.......

Saturday, March 8, 2008

another baby pic

I know I'm not the Mom.......but I'm so excited about these babies...................

They're here........

Promise had a litter of 7 this morning. Mom and babies are doing very well. I just love watching them grow up. Some would certainly fine me nuts, but it's still only my second litter. I'm quite sure they're all various torts-Mom's a black tort and Dad's a blue tort. I have really high hopes for them. They have GC's all over they're pedigree on both sides. I can't wait to see what they're colors develope into.

Day at the Show........

As some of you may know, we also have a toy train business. We've cut store hours to by appointment only since Bill started his job in September. So after a long rest, we rented our first tables of the season at the TTCS show today. For the most part, these are his babies.........he knows the merchandising, pricing, and so on. I know effective vehicle packing, bag acquistion, and proper change counting. I really don't know if he could manage without me.......lol. So, I thought ahead and ended up having a really awesome time today. I grabbed my Babe wheel and the bag of raw Alpaca fleece I'm spinning for my friend Paula of PK's Alpaca Korral and packed it in the mini van this morning. Once we had everything set up, I pulled my stuff out and went to town. I really felt like I accomplished a lot today and had fun doing it. I'm getting really happy with how the yarn is turning out by the way................I'll have to get some pictures up soon. I'm expecting a litter at the end of the week, so hopefully I can post pics then......If anyone's interested in Alpaca, visit Paula at http://www.pksalpacakorral.com.

Monday, February 18, 2008

Well, I'm hopefully expecting a new litter the first week of March. So, it's time to start thinking about making room.

First I'm offering Countryside Murphy
Half sibling to the 2007 Youth ARBA Convention winner
He's just a senior Lilac Tort buck. Murphy has a small typey body and texture and density to his wool. My ignorance when he was little had me overgrooming him, so he doesn't quite cut it for the show table right now. He's offered for $100.00 with pedigree or $60.00 without pedigree as a pet/wooler.

Next is Countryside Jasper
Again Half sibling to the 2007 Youth ARBA Convention winner.
Jasper is a just senior REW buck that is really developed a nice body and has great wool texture and density. His wool has been a little behind due to my overgrooming, but I really think I may have caught myself in time with him to make him successfull. Jasper is offered for $150.00 with pedigree. (Pictures just don't do him justice.........)
I can be e-mailed at LJAngoras@aol.com
I do not ship, but can arrange to meet or pick up here.
Thank you

First Posting..........

I've had a few differnt people mention that I should get a blog going. This is my first post that I'm using as a test. If this works as easily as I'm told then I'll get this going. Knowing me and my varied interests and available time. I've no idea where I may focus this..........could be fun.
My next post I'll tell some about me. Until then....................
